THE YOGA BARN
Devon is the Director of the Yoga Barn at Four Hills Farm. She began taking yoga classes in high school and fell in love with the sense of calm and deep connection to her body that it brought to her. She had always been an athlete and loved the soft, mindful awareness yoga brought to her body and her life. She continued taking classes in college and received her RYT-200 in Hatha and Vinyasa as an intensive from School Yoga Institute in Fort Collins, CO. She has since become a Certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC and is currently studying for a Masters degree in Integrative Nutrition from the Maryland University of Integrative Health in Laurel, MD. She is so grateful to have found a deep mind-body connection and a sense of joyful embodied bliss through yoga and loves to share that with her students.
Surya has felt the benefits of yoga in her body, mind, and soul ever since her yoga practice helped her recover from a whiplash injury. Ever since her recovery she has been committed to sharing the benefits of this practice with as many people as possible around the world. She is passionate about yoga and bringing all the aspects of yogic living to her classes and daily life. Surya is dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for students that is supportive to personal and spiritual growth. In the last four years she has been working as a traveling yoga teacher and feels blessed for this journey which included lots of personal growth and development. During her travels Surya has received her yoga training and taught yoga in Brazil, India, Cambodia, Hawaii, California, and the Philippines.
Surya began her practice as a child as her mother was also a yoga teacher. As a teenager, after joining the National School of Circus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she trained in acrobatics, trapeze, and ropes. She was also part of a professional theater and used her acrobatic abilities as an actress. Surya went on to pursue an academic career and began attending yoga classes to release some of the stress related to her profession. She did her first Yoga Teacher Training in Ashtanga Yoga in Thailand with Lorraine Taylor which made her recognize yoga as her true calling. Recently in Mysore, India, Surya furthered her yoga education by completing her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Hatha Yoga. Surya has been teaching ever since and loves what she does; she feels spiritually called to this practice and brings a sense of warmth, fun, and yogic wisdom to all her students.
Gustavo Monje is a meditation teacher from the Washington DC area. He learned meditation thanks to a chance encounter with a yogi monk on a Greyhound bus at the age of 17. Two weeks later, he traveled to his first meditation retreat, where he was initiated into an ancient tradition of Tantric meditation. Today, he leads his community, the Vistara Circle, in weekly yoga, kirtan, and collective meditation gatherings and does the same weekly activity, via live stream in order to bring spiritual community to people all over the world. Most of his students find him on his Youtube channel, Tantra Thoughts, where he has built a large library of educational videos that teach different aspects of the spiritual science of Tantra, as taught by his guru, Shrii Shrii Anandamurti. Mimi Rieger, E-500 RYT, began practicing yoga in 1998 and has been teaching for over fifteen years. Her physical journey began with ballet at the age of four through her teens and progressed to martial arts and yoga to present day. Mimi teaches with a strong, compassionate yet practical manner encouraging students to adventure, explore and progress past their existing physical paths and practices to seek their most confident and evolved selves.
Mimi received her yoga certification in 2003 at the Ashtanga Yoga Center in Washington, DC with David Ingalls. Her yogic path began with Ashtanga Yoga; she continued to explore and branched off into Budokon®, becoming the first teacher in the area and Regional Director of Budokon® Yoga for Budokon® International. In 2009 she received her Progressive Ashtanga Yoga certification, in 2010 she received her Rocket Vinyasa Yoga certification both under David Kyle; she has also completed the Forrest Yoga Advanced Training and her Reiki 1 certification. With her expansive training and love of contribution, Mimi created her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Program in 2013 and has graduated over 125 students in the past 5 years and continues to curate and facilitate the curriculum. She has thousands of hours of classroom instruction in addition to her personal studies both through her physical and spiritual practice. Blessed and honored to teach amazing events and stellar individuals including, First Lady Michelle Obama, professional athletes, sports teams and corporate clients, she teaches internationally, in the U.S. and her home in the Washington DC metropolitan area. A constant seeker, Mimi is consistently studying with her teachers and traveling to trainings, intensives, and retreats to further her knowledge of yoga and her passionate wellness journey. Aimee, RYT-200, spends her time assisting the community through the physical body in many different ways including yoga, personal training, and photography. She began her yoga journey years ago, and it wasn’t until facing addiction that she deepened her practiced and began to make yogic living a complete lifestyle and career. Her direction, focus, mission or dharma – whatever you’d like to call it – is to spread knowledge and love of the mind, body, and spirit connection (with a sharp slice of humor on the side) in order to help others become the absolute best version of themselves.
